Joe Welch founded Welch Custom Homes in 2014 in Charleston, South Carolina to provide a personalized client-centric team approach to achieve a common goal – to deliver a custom home that meets and exceeds original expectations of each homeowner they have the privilege to serve. Joe and his wife Amy are led by their Christian values, establishing trusted relationships with their clients, vendors, and subcontractors through their walk and faith in Jesus Christ.
Throughout the years, they’ve considered it a blessing from God to contribute to residents in need in the Charleston Tri-County area by answering the call when friends, local churches and city officials have reached out and asked for their company’s help to complete urgent home repairs for members of the community. These projects require a professional level of skill and quite often prevent homelessness and mold-related illness for residents unable to afford crucial home repairs. Examples include destructive water intrusion; absence of interior heat and air; mold infestation; roofing, siding, and interior repairs that impact structural integrity; accessibility installations for resident disabilities; and more.
The couple has mobilized their dedicated friends, family members, staff, and subcontractors to step in to complete these repairs through volunteer professional services, with limited equipment and material costs. As a result, they’ve experienced firsthand how serving brings hope and inspiration to the volunteer, donor, and recipient family.
As the number of repair needs in our Lowcountry community continues to grow, Welch Community Hope was established by the team at Welch Custom Homes to provide a charitable platform for community members to meet the increasing demand. Through this Hope fund, residents and corporations now have a nonprofit pathway to contribute to Hope projects with their financial and professional resources to support local families in dire circumstances.
100% of donations received cover the minimized expenses of specialized equipment, labor, and materials to complete these critical Hope projects, while utilizing the construction relationships that Welch Custom Homes has established over the past decade. Trusted Welch sub-partners and subcontractors generously donate time and provide equipment and supplies at cost whenever possible.
Welch Community Hope brings the Charleston Tri-County community together to meet the specific home repair needs of our neighbors in crisis. Our charity is rooted in Christian-based principals, and all are welcome to participate. Anyone with a passion to serve is warmly invited to join our mission and make a difference in our community.
